As I write to you today, I am feeling refreshed after getting some much needed rest. Last week was very hectic for me. However, I was able to enjoy some downtime over the weekend. I was also able to attend a Christmas party and it was a lot of fun. The countdown is on to Christmas and everyone is getting into the spirit of the season. More importantly, we are getting closer to the completion of another cycle. I hope you are approaching these final weeks with conscientiousness, commitment, and courage. After all, you decide how this cycle will end for you. I choose to remain focused on my goals and committed to my vision. Never forget that you set the course for your own breakthroughs!

Are you feeling defeated? Have you been living in cycles of loss? When was the last time you got a win? How will you cultivate a winning mindset? I talk to people everyday that are feeling defeated. They live in a perpetual state of frustration and failure. What I have discovered over the years is that frustration and failure are the seeds for hopelessness. While I am not negating the fact that we all go through things in life, I am saying that you cannot allow your circumstances to control your life. Whatever you magnify will master your life. Also, what you magnify will manifest in your life. Often times we curse the future because we experience a cycle of frustration. The problem is that you do not curse the future. Instead, you must change your focus. When you change your focus defeat is no longer an option for you. Defeat is ultimately a decision.

So many people in the world today are living in cycles of loss. We are facing a myriad of social, economic and political challenges. However, I learned a valuable truth that has been a constant anchor in my life. No human being on this planet is exempt from storms. On the other hand, you can control the emphasis that you place on the storms in your life. You can bow to the storms in your life. Or you can choose to allow the storms of your life to build you. In other words, you can barely make it through. Or you can allow the storms of your life to build a masterpiece. A loss is not a death sentence. It is simply a season that you pass through in life. However, if you allow loss to consume you then it becomes a cycle in your life. Just because you have experienced loss does not mean that you have to accept defeat. Notice that I said defeat has to be accepted. Nothing can access your life without your acceptance. You can come back from a loss. It is much more challenging to come back from defeat. Defeat often becomes a belief system and a state of being. It is one thing to feel defeated. It is a totally different thing to be defeated. Your perspective always determines what has power over your life.

You may not believe this but you are a winner. In fact, you were born to win. You are an overcomer. Most people do not stay in the fight long enough to win. You cannot give up just because you encounter hardship, difficulty or opposition. We say we want to be great. However, the moment we encounter pressure or discomfort we abandon the course to greatness. Anybody that promises you that the journey to greatness will be easy is a liar. You were born to win but you will have to battle to win. Winning is not just something that you do. Winning must become who you are. Ultimately, I have discovered that winning is a mentality. Winning is an unshakable belief system that defies odds and challenges limitations. Winning is an inner conviction that will not accept the possibility of defeat. Winning is training your mind for triumph. It does not matter how great your dream is if you have not cultivated a winning mentality. Winners do not deny the facts. Winners simply exalt faith over facts. Winners do not wait for the victory to come to them. Winners seize the victory. I have discovered that victory is not optional for winners.

In closing, some of you reading this may be feeling defeated. You may feel like 2017 has been a waste. Or maybe you are disappointed because you feel like you should be farther. The reality is that you cannot rewind your life. The only thing you can do is take responsibility for this moment and use it to create results. It may be too late to accomplish all your goals for 2017. However, you can take action on some of your goals. Your excuses are only perpetuating cycles of failure in your life. Take responsibility for where you are and evaluate what you can do differently. Responsibility and resolve are in the DNA of every winner. We only have a few weeks left in this year. Determine to end this year well. One of the greatest ways to end 2017 well is to develop a winning mentality. You were born to win!
