As I write to you, I am coming off of an emotionally draining week. This week a close family friend transitioned into heaven. He had been battling cancer for quite some time. He was a fighter and he fought to the very end. I was heartbroken because he was so young. My thoughts shifted quickly to his wife and son and the pain that they must be feeling at this time. While it has been a rough week, God has carried me through in His strength. This close family friend was like a brother to me and I have known him for many years. I find peace in the fact that he loved God with all his heart and lived out his faith. I know he is in heaven and enjoying the presence of God. I will see him again one day and I find great joy in that. He has now received his eternal reward!

Are you living your life or are you simply existing? Has life lost its significance? Have you stopped appreciating life? Death has a way of putting things into perspective for you. We can get so consumed with our own little worlds that we forget there is a larger world. More importantly, we get so consumed with our own challenges that we forget there are people that are going through so much more than we are. This experience this week reminded me of the importance of living my life. You cannot continue to put off into the future what you need to do today. So many times we tell ourselves that I have time. However, everyday people are transitioning into eternity that said the same thing. The reality is that you must live your life purposefully and intentionally. You cannot endanger your potential by choosing to simply exist. Make a quality decision to stop sitting on the sidelines and start engaging in life again. You know life has lost its significance when passion dwindles, vision becomes obscure and goals seem unattainable. When you stop living in the possibility of what your life can become, you know that your life has lost its pulse. When you dread waking up in the morning and lose the desire for more you know that you are living without a pulse. When you live without a pulse you are living a life void of purpose. I am challenging you today to appreciate your life. While you may not be where you want to be, take time to appreciate the journey and everything that has brought you to this point. Appreciate the fact that you have been given another day to live, love and awaken to your full potential. Celebrate the fact that everything that tried to destroy you has become the tool to develop you for greatness. It is impossible to have a pity party when you develop the right perspective about life. Perspective is what sustains you in your moments of pressure. When you watch someone walk through the valley of the shadow of death fearlessly, it reminds you that you are blessed with another opportunity to fulfill your destiny. The proof that you appreciate life is revealed through your awareness and active engagement of life in every moment. After all, appreciation is what attracts abundance into your world.

In closing, this week has been emotionally draining for me. However, I have also learned so much. I have learned how to value life even more. Every waking moment and every second of life is so precious. I do not have time to waste. I am even more determined to live my purpose, make my moments count and fulfill the mandate on my life to empower the world. That is how I honor the memory of my friend and it is also how I honor the greatness inside of me. Finally, I am super excited to announce that my new book Chosen: Strategies for Revolutionary Leadership will be released next week on May 16, 2017. The digital version is available now. Or you can pre-order the print book ahead of the release date. I’m excited about it and 2017 is shaping up to be a record-breaking year. Thanks in advance for your support of this new endeavor. Live each day to the fullest and live in freedom. Never stop appreciating the gift of life!
