As I write to you, it is hard to believe that another year is getting ready to come to a close. It seems like only yesterday I was wishing you a happy new year and giving you keys to make 2016 great. Now we stand at the end of the road and I hope the rewards of 2016 outweigh the regrets. No matter how you feel about the year you cannot change it. 2016 is over and you must use this moment for reflection to refuel you to achieve even more in 2017. What you fail to analyze you will inevitably repeat. Extract every lesson that you can out of 2016 and let it empower your success in 2017!

Are you satisfied with your results in 2016? What lessons can you take away from 2016? How will you finish the year strong? Of course, I do not know any person that is completely satisfied with their results in 2016. We tend to be very hard on ourselves and sometimes that works against us. Too often we get so caught up in what we did not accomplish that we fail to focus on the victories of the year. Spend some time over the next few days looking over your goals and plans. Reflect on the victories that you experienced in 2016. Most of all, take the time to evaluate what you could have done differently. One of the most important keys I ever learned about success is that evaluation determines your elevation. You cannot step into 2017 and elevate your life without first evaluating your habits, disciplines, and results from 2016. You can ignore my words and go about life as usual. However, you will continue to get the same mediocre results year after year. Finishing strong is not just a cute cliche that I have adopted. Finishing strong is a belief system that recognizes that how I finish the year determines how far I go in the next year of my life. You do not have to wait for January 1st to make changes in your life. You can start right now. In fact, I encourage you to shift your paradigm and start developing the habits that will cause you to live a higher life in 2017. What you fail to implement ultimately becomes the force that impedes your progress. Finishing strong is making up your mind that momentum is more important than mediocrity. Finishing strong is realizing that the triumph that I experience in life is connected to the way that I think. In addition, finishing strong requires you to take the time to discover your biggest lessons of 2016. Every year of our lives is designed to teach us something and empower us to become a greater version of ourselves. Hopefully, you are walking out of 2016 with lessons and wisdom that will help you go farther and do more in 2017. A life without lessons is a life that will be defined by lost. Spend some time this week journaling about the most important lessons you learned this year. Most of all, spend some time reflecting on the progress that you made this year. If you do not like what you discover you need to spend some time designing what you want the next year of your life to look like. If you do not create a plan for your new year I can assure you that 2017 will simply be a copy of 2016. Examine where you are and allow it to empower your advancement. Never expect to embrace an uncommon future without a vision. A directionless life is a dangerous life.

In closing, 2016 was an interesting year for me. It was a year of big moments and great breakthroughs in my life. However, it was also a time of adversity, discomfort, and transition for me. I am so thankful that I have great people around me that pushed me through this year. 2016 taught me many lessons. However, one of the most important things I learned this year is that a promise unprotected creates a future of uncertainty. You must protect your promise with extreme vigilance. Do not beat yourself up about what you did not accomplish in 2016. This is an opportunity to set a new precedent right now. Make a quality decision that your life is going to look dramatically different in 2017. Then start designing with specificity what you want the next year of your life to look like. In the final days of 2016, you can create the plan, start developing the patterns and position yourself for incredible results in 2017. I do not want you to finish this year weak, weary or worn. I want you to finish this year well. Finishing well means finding the strategy that will cause you to win in 2017 and beyond. You must finish strong!
