As I was preparing to write to you today, I was quickly reminded of how fast time is moving. We are in the month of November and we are only a few weeks away from the end of another year. I hope that you are guarding your focus and committing to get more done over the next few weeks. We cannot turn back the hands of time. However, we can use the moments that we have left to create breakthroughs in our lives. It is important to understand that our priorities determine our progress. Dedicate yourself to the things that will cause your dreams to become reality. Your life follows your focus!
Have you become distracted? Do you find yourself drifting? Is your life moving in the right direction? Over the last few weeks I have been exploring the power of choices. I have heard so much great feedback from around the world about how my writing on choices has resonated with you. However, I felt compelled to shift gears this week and I am writing to you with a much more serious tone. I think it is safe to say that we all understand that our choices frame our lives. Over the years I have learned that one thing gets in the way of right choices. What is that one thing? Distractions come into our lives and break our concentration causing us to make horrible choices. Often these distractions are not bad things. For example, distractions often show up as new relationships, a pay raise, new opportunities, hobbies, projects. etc. I can see some of you looking puzzled right about now. I am sure that some of you are saying that these are all good things. I never said that they were not good things. However, sometimes what appears to be good is an enemy to greatness in our lives. In fact, I often say that doing the right thing at the wrong time is what causes us to drift. Drifting may not seem like a bad thing to you. What I know with certainty is that drifting is dangerous. Drifting moves us farther away from our priorities and ultimately causes us to forfeit our potential. According to the Oxford Dictionary to drift means to be carried slowly by a current of air or water; to walk slowly, aimlessly or casually;(of a person or their attention) digress or stray to another subject. Too many people in the world today are walking aimlessly. Life is not something that we can engage casually. We must be conscious about how we walk. The danger in living with divided attention is that destiny is aborted. Where there is division you will always find disempowerment. This is a critical time in the world. The one thing we cannot afford to do is drift. You need to get clear about your direction and you need to cut off every distraction in your life. Stop giving your attention to things that do not advance your life. You must never become casual in your pursuit of change.
In closing, I want you to understand that drifting is dangerous. Drifting is ultimately deviating from your intended course. When we get off course destiny is altered. It is so important that you stay on the intended course for your life. You do not have time to wander aimlessly through life never accomplishing your assignment. The times demand that you do not drift from the path of your purpose. You must work with passion and precision if you want to maximize your greatest potential. The greatest lie you could ever embrace is that you have all the time in the world. This is an irresponsible statement. It is the proof that you are living absent of purpose and vision. Drifting may not seem like a big deal. However, consistent deviation will cost you your destiny. It’s time to stop drifting and start developing uncommon focus in your life!
