Get Your Priorities Straight!

As I write to you this week, I am feeling refreshed and refocused. It seems like last week was such a whirlwind with a hectic schedule and so much that needed to be done. This week I was able to breathe and get back into a rhythm. I am still working on a couple of projects but I was able to work with laser focus this week. Also, we are in the final stages of my new book launch. I am excited about all the great things happening and all the great opportunities coming my way. It is very important that you guard your focus and that you do not get preoccupied with activities that do not move you forward.
Have you established your priorities? What is attempting to distract you from your priorities? How will you keep your priorities straight? Often people ask me for the key to success. While I believe that a number of factors contribute to success, I know from personal experience that establishing priorities is essential to reaching your full potential in life. Everyday we are faced with the opportunity to get pulled away from our priorities. However, those that protect their priorities are the ones that are the most productive. The reason I am able to get so much done on a consistent basis is because I understand that when my priorities are aligned I propel achievement in my life. According to the Oxford Dictionary, priority is a thing regarded as more important than another; the right to take precedence or to proceed before others. I love the definition of taking precedence. We allow trivial pursuits to take precedence in our lives. You cannot give your attention to things that do not advance your life. You must learn the art of remaining fixed on the things that will move your life forward. Honestly, if we are not moving forward we are essentially failing in life.
In closing, I thought it was very important to speak to you about priorities. We are still in the early stages of the second quarter. If you can understand this principle I believe this can be the most productive season of your life. We need to stop waiting for something magical to happen and realize that mindset determines how high we go in life. It does not matter how much you believe in possibilities if you do not know how to prioritize your life. Prioritization has been one of the greatest keys to my success. It is a key that every high achiever has mastered. When you get your priorities straight you produce success. Make a commitment right now to concentrate on your priorities. Only what you concentrate on do you have the power to conserve. Get your priorities straight!
