As I write to you, we are just coming off of a very powerful weekend. For those of us that are believers we have celebrated the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It has been known around the world as holy week. It is one of my favorite times of the year. It is not really about the traditions or the formalities. For me this holy time is about remembrance and sacrifice. I hope you enjoyed the holiday weekend with your family and that you took time to reflect on the life of our Savior. It’s a beautiful thing to know that we have been raised to life in Him!
Have you been in a low place? Has despair and discouragement tried to grip your life? When will you rise up and claim your authority? The story of Jesus Christ is central to my faith. Some call it a fable and others call it rubbish. I call the story of Jesus Christ powerful. The willingness of one man to lay down His life for the redemption of all humanity is dynamic. The agony of the horrific death He would have to die never deterred Him from fulfilling His assignment. That simple truth alone motivates me to keep going even in those moments where I am tempted to quit. More importantly, I think about the love that Jesus had. It takes unconditional love to die for people that had no respect for Him. However, the power of His story is not in His death. The power of His story is in His resurrection. I believe that we are in a season of resurrection. You are getting ready to rise up in your authority and be the person you have been destined to be. According to the Oxford Dictionary to rise means to move from a lower position to a higher one; come or go up; to succeed in not being limited or constrained; to be superior. I could go on and on with this definition. However, what I want you to get is that it is time to change your position in life. You have been in a low place long enough. You have tolerated defeat long enough. It’s time for you to rise up and raise the standard for your life! Playing it safe only causes your potential to suffer. Getting by is robbing you of great breakthroughs. You were not created to live a satisfactory life. You have been destined to live a superior life. It’s time to rise above every restriction.
In closing, I know that holy week is over. However, I think holy week should be every week. You should regularly pause and reflect on the life of the greatest leader to ever walk this planet. Think about His sacrifice, love and His legacy that continues to transform lives more than 2000 years later. Think about all the situations in your life that have tried to hold you down. Then tap into the power that resides on the inside and defeat what has tried to defeat you. I am declaring to you today that it is time to rise up. Rise up in new strength. Rise up with new vision. Rise up with new authority. It’s time to be the bold champion that you’ve been called to be. No more retreating. Your days of living in restrictions are over. Today I am telling you to rise up!
