Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. This is one of my favorite times of the year. It’s a time for fun, food and great fellowship with your family. Thanksgiving is also a time to reflect on the many blessings that you have been granted in your life. Thanksgiving is a time to express gratitude for the grace and mercy of God that continues to preserve our lives. In fact, when you think about the grace of God it births profound gratitude in the heart. When you think about the fact that life is a journey of grace it opens your heart and helps you appreciate the beautiful gift of life. Thanksgiving is one of the greatest demonstrations of unity. I love to see families coming together and families gathered around the dinner table. A united family is unbreakable. In a time where the institution of family is under attack, Thanksgiving is a powerful reminder and demonstration of the strength of a strong family unit. While great grief and sorrow continue to plague the world, you must never lose your heart of gratitude. Many things in life will seem unfair and you will not understand everything. Instead of dwelling on how unfair life has been I want you to dwell on the uncommon advantage that you have been given. The uncommon advantage you have been given is the power to choose not to complain and display and ungrateful disposition about life. There is nothing more unsettling in life than living ungrateful. When I think about the grace and goodness of God in my life, I am overwhelmed with gratitude. I don’t feel any animosity about my journey but I feel appreciation for everything God has done in my life.

Have you stopped cultivating a heart of gratitude? Have you become unappreciative of the great work God has done in your life? What have you allowed to influence your heart and rob you of gratitude? How can you start cultivating an attitude of appreciation again? Never forget that you cannot have greatness without God. No matter how many accolades we receive and what we achieve we must maintain an attitude of appreciation. No matter how difficult your life looks remember that it could always be worst. We are fortunate to wake up every morning, breathe God’s air and experience this beautiful thing called life. God is always in control. It does not matter what crisis or circumstance arises in your life. Stop complaining about what you do not have and start celebrating all the things that you do have. It is impossible to express gratitude and remain ungrateful. Thanksgiving is powerful because it shifts our context of life and strengthens our concentration on the precious things in our lives. Thanksgiving is coming to a place in your life where you realize that God sufficiently supplies what you need for every season of your life.

Furthermore, you must realize that nobody is exempt from challenges. However, the thing that makes you special is the fact that you can maintain your concentration even as you move through crisis. When you can persevere in the midst of pressure you become powerful. I’m not telling you that you will be thankful for everything. However, what I have learned is that you can be thankful in everything. In other words, we don’t lose our trust in turbulent times. When you discover the power of gratitude it opens your heart and expands your world. The powerful thing about gratitude is it causes you to be content when your life should be crumbling. Thanksgiving is not a special holiday on the calendar. Thanksgiving is a daily practice that every overcomer has cultivated. When you embrace a life of gratitude you can have confidence that there is nothing in life that you cannot conquer. Gratitude is my favorite thing in the whole world. Discover the power of thanksgiving!
