While I love blogging and sharing my thoughts, I will admit that this was one of those weeks that I really didn’t feel like blogging. I am just coming off of an amazing vacation and my mind has not quite shifted back into business mode. Nevertheless, I felt compelled to talk with you for a few moments about rest. I believe that rest is a vital part of our lives. In fact, we are living in a generation that does not understand the importance of rest. According to studies, people around the world are more tired, burnt-out and stressed than ever before. It impacts your health, your job performance and ultimately the quality of your life. While I am all for being successful, we cannot neglect our bodies in the process. Success does not exclude rest but embraces rest!
Are you resting? When was the last time you took a vacation? Are you burnt-out? No one wants to admit that they are tired. However, you know when you are tired. You can feel it physically, emotionally, psychologically and spiritually. You can continue going on as normal but your body is going to ultimately break down. I understand that you may not be able to splurge right now on a big vacation but you have to find some time to rest. Use some vacation time and take a few days to unwind and be renewed. You will be amazed at the results of resting. I can already tell that I am more focused, centered and my creativity has been heightened substantially from simply taking time to rest. I dare you to embrace the wonders of rest in your life!
In closing, I had a tremendous time on my vacation. In fact, this was by far one of the best vacations I ever had. Now it is back to work for me. I am so excited about all the new projects coming. We are in the third quarter of the game and timing is critical. Now is the time to pick up speed, get focused and live your greatest life yet. Your greatest life is not just about achievement but it is also about rest and enjoying your life. I hope you will get back to these very important values in your life. Embrace a season of rest!
